Most Common Questions
Question and Answer
1. How long do you plan on being in Peru? Until we are guided by the Holy Spirit to leave. It is not up to me to get ahead of the Holy Spirit.
2. How do you plan on making a living while on the mission field? We are not going to the mission field to work a secular job, we are going to win souls, disciple, and plant churches. God does not send anyone to do something that takes away from the reason you are going.
3. Why Peru? Because there is a great need. Unlike The United States, there is not a church on every corner. We are going to the unreached areas, where there are no missionaries, no churches, no hope, and no message of the Gospel being delivered.
4. What language is spoken? The majority of the country speaks Spanish, though there may be some indigenous tribes that still have their own language, which prayerfully with the guidance of The Holy Spirit, they can still be reached.
5. What is the largest religion in Peru? Roman Catholicism, yet some indigenous Peruvians blend that with their traditional Andean beliefs.
6. Is it dangerous? It can be dangerous anywhere, but we walk by faith and not by sight. We trust that God will protect us to go and do what He has called us to do and should we face danger, we will still Praise His Name and Pray that souls will be saved because of it.
7. What Bible do you use and why? The Version of The Bible we will use is the Reina-Valera 1960. Why? Because it is what our sending church uses and what the majority of the churches in Peru do use. I was raised up on the mission field and this is what was used. I will argue with no American Pastor, that does not even speak the language, but only takes the word of others. While American Pastors and Churches fight over this issue, (Millions of souls go unreached and go to hell because of man's opinions).
8. What currency is used in Peru? The currency that is used in Peru, is the Peruvian Sol. It equals to about three Peruvian Sols to one American Dollar. However, this can fluctuate from time to time.
9. What part of Peru are you going to be in? We are looking to be based in and around the Tarapoto area in Central Peru, and then we are able to go up and down the rivers as needed to get to villages.
10. What do you plan on doing when you first get there? We would like shadow a couple of pastors we know when we first arrive, but only until we are established and ready to go to other areas, which we pray is not long.
11. What do the people do for a living? Many people around the rivers fish, but farming is also a huge part of their daily lives and the economy.
12. Could our church come visit once you are on the mission field? Absolutely, we encourage it!
13. What mission board do you use? We are not going through a mission board. While there are many good boards out there, our local New Testament Church has been and is going to continue to handle everything for us. Could this change? Absolutely, it could!
